The air in Beijing has gotten significantly better since a couple years ago. The gov't has moved out all the factories in Beijing and people are required to drive their cars less (the commi gov't has the power to enforce this ) I saw the apartment buildings they built for the Olympic athletes to live in during their stay, and it's friggin schweet!
lol, when I went to Beijing, it was still all smoggy. Though for the 5 days that we were there, there was barely a single ray of sunshine which probably contributed to the low visibility. But yeah, Beijing has done a lot to try and improve the air quality. IMO, they did it too late, they should've started earlier.
I was in beijing last year and the year before that, the air was absolutely awful! I can't imagine how it would have been 4 or 5 years ago.
The previous time I went to beijing was before the whole economy boom. Back then, the air was much better, but the streets much trashier.
wow did anyone see the 4x100 mens freestyle relay? an amazing finish and phelps still has a shot at breaking spitz's record. gonna watch table tennis too. :yup:
Edit: They already took the video down =[ O_O O_O O_O O_O O_O O_O O_O O_O O_O O_O Pfft, it should be Lezak's name all over the headlines, not Phelps.
Yea Lazek beat the French. He was swimming so damn fast at the end, the French went "OMG Hax!" Anyway, people should already know Chinese politics are messed up. Also I dislike the protesters, they need to STFU and let the athletes compete.
Haha, with that ridiculous finish, I don't blame them. The guy is amazing. And how is the politics messed up? China FTW
Zero, The Chinese government will make business deals with anyone. They will supply people with guns, no matter what they do with them. The Chinese think like this "A problem in X country is not our problem" - which might be fine but if you are fueling genocide, wars and supporting immoral dictators. Then it becomes everyones problem. Is this what they are showing on NBC live? It comes on night time for me and I wasn't sure what that was.
They're showing Women's gymnastics all-around finals at time of writing this. You can also watch live streaming video from nbcolympics.com
I know, he's pro In every race this year that I've seen him in (where he's swimming seriously, not conserving energy) he's been meters ahead of the "competition". This guys is a pool shark.
