Till we Have Faces; CS Lewis. It's an amazing book, based off the myth Cupid and Psyche. From the point of view of Psyche's overprotective sister Orual.
I actually haven't read a book recently that wasn't for school -.- But my favorite book of all time is The World According to Garp. It's moving, it's deep. The satire and irony make it funny yet at the same time sad. A must read.
Crime and Punishment by Dostoevsky Great Gatsby by Fitzgerald East of Eden by Steinbeck Fahrenheit 451 by Bradbury Old Man and the Sea by Hemingway
I actually saw a play-production of The Great Gatsby after reading the book. The book I can see why people like it but personally I considered it a bit of a bore. On the other hand the play was fantastic. Visual stimulation can make all the difference I guess B)
The Archer's Tale by Bernard Cornwell. It is a great book (the whole series is, honestly, though I can't think of its name at the top of my head). It's about this English archer in the Hundred Years War. Very, very thrilling. You get a history lesson as well. Go read it. >_> I, Claudius by Robert Graves. Another wonderful historical fiction book, for those who love history and the signifigance of it. The first of Robert Graves's two-part account of the life of Roman Emperor Tiberius Claudius, written in the form of Claudius's autobiography, covering the years from his early childhood through his election as Emperor in 41 A.D.
I guess it's all based on personal preference. I personally enjoyed The Great Gatsby and other modernist works.
I think with any book, it depends what you enjoy... However--I'm not sure how anyone could view the Great Gatsby as boring...with all the descriptiveness and detail Fitzgerald puts into his writing. . xD
I really recommend "The game: penetrating the secret society of pickup artists" by Neil Staruss. It's really hilarious and engrossing. I also HIGHLY recommend "House of Leaves" by Mark Z. Danielewski, you should check it out, it's mindbending.
I LOVE the Janet Evanovich series of Stephanie Plum they're funny as hell! I also like the Alex Rider series read them a while ago so i forget the author but its a good adventure/action packed book!
