LOL, that sounds like my kind of teacher xD I never listen in class anyways. Tried that, didn't work. Self-study is still better than school education. Classwork is monotonous and Tests are robotic. It's a really bad system =P
heck yes its possible. once i had a teacher that said we had 3 weeks to do a project then the next day she said was due.... so everyone got F on that. but we always tricked her into thinking that we had tests on different days
I think I had a "dumb" professor freshman year. Unfortunately I have her next semester too. She tries to teach from the book and still doesn't really "teach". We pretty much had to learn everything ourselves.
One extra thing: Regardless of teachers as a whole being pioneers (which is great), they are also people. People can be 'dumb' from time to time. (which happens a lot) Not all politicians are evil but they're not all good either.
Yes, and I think they are generally high school teachers. I found myself many a day in high school CORRECTING my teachers. I don't know about university professors, I know at the college I went to they were all incredibly bright.
A lot of my teachers just let us learn from the book... they don't do anything and often they just walk out of the class... Also my teacher for economics (?) makes mistakes all the time, we always have to correct her... For example, several times she thought 1% of 20 was 2...
It is totally possible. A teaching degree does not equal intelligence in any way. I have had teachers that have been corrected by students more often than not, and then get annoyed to the point of harassing the entire class. "Pop quiz" is an evil phrase. :nope:
The good side of this, is that the students are allways checking wether she's right or not, thus resulting in better study
Teachers are not taught how to teach science or history or math in teachers college. Teachers are taught how to "teach". This means that two things can go wrong. 1) A teacher can slide through university with okay marks but not understand their subject to the extent that they should to be a teacher. 2) They can get through teachers college without knowing everything they should. They either can't teach or don't know the subject...or both at the same time. Some do well in both categories but can't pull it together and develop good learning strategies for the class or they can't keep up with the dynamic demands of a classroom of 30 kids. Take an engineer for example. You can want to do it, do well, pass the tests and become an engineer but that doesn't mean you won't forget stuff or make mistakes...not everyone is going to be perfect at what they do. Teaching is a hard job and a lot of people that aren't cut out for it slip through the cracks...it happens in all professions.
can anyone go through entire paragraphs without using "like" uselessly? seriously...people make THEMSELVES look stupid by saying that all the time... "one day I was, like, walking down the street and there was, like, Bill Gates there and, like,..." anyway... another thing about stupid teachers is when they notice that kids are being total assholes to some other kid and they don't do anything about it or they take the WRONG action joy
Yes, its very possible to have dumb teachers...i have this teacher that teaches cultural diversity...and thats all he's been teaching for the past 5 years..but when we started reading the anne frank diary...he couldnt even spell anne frank!
Some teachers can be dumb. Through old age? Or maybe the school is just outright bad and can't employ any good teachers.
In every profession you will have the gods, the hard working journeyman and the idiots. It's a fact of life.
