How do you figure it's not as great as everyone said? It's regarded by most FF fans as the best FF ever. The only one that gives it a run for its money IMO is FFX.
I personaly don't like FFVI that much. The story was IMO boring, though I liked the characters except Aerith. I played every FF that I have at home like 5 to 7 times but FFVI just once because I didn't like it. The only thing that was really good in 7 were the chocobos. ^^
