Evolution , for sure, mainly cause there are more facts of it, and i doubt someone just pops a world and...well, the whole ecosystem in what, 6 days? then just to grow tired, pfff.

Science is trying to answer all of these questions. Now that we have the technology to do so, the earlier "hypothesis" about a creator are becoming more and more invalid.

I will reply with a list of quotes from the bible directly contrasting.

"For I am merciful, saith the Lord, and I will not keep anger forever." (Jeremiah 3:12)
"Ye have kindled a fire in mine anger, which shall burn forever." (Jeremiah 17:4)

"If I testify about myself, my testimony is not valid." (John 5:31)
"Jesus answered: Even if I testify on my own behalf, my testimony is valid." (John 8:14)

"And Jesus coming, spoke to them, saying: All power is given to me in heaven and in earth." (Matthew 28:18)
"the whole world is under control of the evil one." (1 John 5:19)

And Jesus said, "For judgement I am come into this world." (John 9:39)
"I came not to judge the world" (John 12:47)

"Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven." (Matthew 5:16)
"Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven." (Matthew 6:1)

"Jacob said, 'I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved.'" (Genesis 32:30)
"No man hath seen God at any time." (John 1:18)

We should fear God (Matthew 10:28)
We should love God (Matthew 22:37)
There is no fear in love (1 John 4:18)

"But anyone who says 'You fool!' will be in danger of the fire of hell." (Jesus) Mat 5:22

    "You fools!" (Jesus) Luke 11:40
"You blind fools!" (Jesus) Mat 23:17
"How foolish you are" (Jesus) Luke 24:25

"But God said to him, 'You fool!' " (Jesus) Luke 12:20

"You foolish Galatians!" (St. Paul) Galatians 3:1
    "You foolish man" James 2:20

"Whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father." [Matt. x, 33.]

"Whosoever shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost hath never forgiveness." [Mark iii, 29.]

"Moreover if thy brother shall trespass against thee ... tell it unto the church: but if he neglect to hear the church, let him be unto thee as a heathen man and a publican." [Matt. xviii, 15-17.]

All of those verses are taken out of context. Of course, even I do not consider the bible the binding truth. Because of the fact it has been translated so many hundreds of times and was written so long ago, that the meanings of words may have been lost over time, and the translations reduce the accuracy of the text. These things however are undeniable to me, God exsists. I used to question this, but I cannot count the times I should have been shot, been in a fatal car accident, rolled off a cliff( rock climbing, long story.) and other incidents I really shouldn't have survived, but did, if only by some freak coincidence.

I believe in BOTH..........well since there are many Holes in the theory of Evolution and Creation it's very hard to tell which one is true......

Like in the theory of Creation, it was written in the bible that all of us came from Adam and Eve so doesn't it literally makes us related to one another??? .......it keeps my mind nagging me to write this one o_O

And in the theory of Evolution, there so many things that's hard to explain like how can tiny organisms evolve and turn to another organism even if there's so many proof there's still so many holes........

They said that Adam and Eve were the first humans created, but they weren't the only ones created by God. How do you think Cain was able to have children? A little Oedipus action? Nope.

As for how microorganisms can get more complex, I know it's a long read, but you might want to look through the past pages, I believe I explained it on the first page.

its pretty much impossible to say, we dont have any evidence to support god, but you just have to have faith

I personally believe in a god, but I just don't really know all the details.

I mean it doesn't make sense to me that something came from nothing wouthout a higher power. =/

Like the speculations on all these billions of years, yet when tested things usually only come out under 20k years. =/

It's a very discussable topic, but very easy to defend both sides I believe...

Maybe these things were just not meant for us to discover in this life time. However, I do believe in both. There are very reliable facts that were gathered up from previous centuries that back up both of these arguments. I guess we will find out if there is a god by the time we die, and maybe its better that way.

It is my belief that religion was created for the same reasons Santa Claus was created. A way to ensure proper behavior from children for a year (or at least in the months leading up to Christmas).

How many times did our parents tell us to behave, or Santa wasn't going to bring us any presents. When I was young, that's what my parents used to tell me, so I wouldn't wreak havoc.

So what does an authority do to keep his subjects in check...creates a higher power. If you misbehave, you won't get into Heaven. The ancient Egyptians and Greeks had their own set of gods and goddesses. As far as I can remember from history class, it was always taught that good behavior led to a good afterlife and bad behavior led to a depressing eternity.

I believe when your heart stops beating and your brain stops firing action potentials, your life ceases. We have no souls, there is no heaven, no hell -nothing.

I only added the above to repute the arguments above that basically translate to, "God is enough for me!"

Anyway, going back to evolution, I acknowledge there are arguments to dispute it, however, it also has a lot of proof in its favor. Early evolutionists theorized that humans and apes had a common ancestor. That does not mean that humans were once apes! Using genomics (all of an organism's sequenced DNA), we've determined that our DNA is 99% similar to chimps. Before you start thinking that our DNA is that similar to every other organism on Earth; that's not the case.

In a Genetics Club meeting at my university this semester, we had a speaker from a PhD program at another university come and explain his research project. He was investigation the evolutionary path of a certain bacteria that has mutated creating an antibiotic resistance strain (a very bad thing because it means that our medicines cannot kill it). I won't get into the specifics of his research, but because I believe it is another source of proof for evolution. Bacteria are evolving all the time.

Finally, thousands of years ago the size of humans was increasing. It reached a plateau though because womens pelvises' got as wide as the could, while still allowing women to walk upright -- had they gotten any larger womens legs would be too far apart to walk. However, with more and more cesarean sections being performed, doctors, researchers, and evolutionists are noticing that the size of human heads are beginning to increase again.

Wow, I actually read all 11 pages.. *proud* XD

But yeah, I'm for evolution. To me it only makes sense that God was created by people to keep society stuctured and regulated, as mentioned above. If God did truly exist, and we have no evidence to support his existance, wouldn't it be very ironic if we started to believe in something that actually existed without having anything to support the existance?

So to me it only makes sense that we ourselves created God...

And yes, science does have its flaws, but I still find the theory of evolution to have strong evidence, and definately the most reasonable argument I have heard.

I, unlike some of the people who've been posting, am not well educated in the field of evolution, so I'm not going to try to give evidence, but I've looked into the topic, and know it well enough to say that I support it. Reading this debate only enforced my beliefs...

I <3 reading forums like these... XD So interesting+opinionated+educational. ^^
