    Dear Stuart,

    Congratulations! You have guessed correctly in the Lenny Conundrum game (round 255). You have won 430 NP!

    Yours Sincerely,
    The Neopets Team!

    new one out

    When Gorix escaped from Dr. Sloth's ship, his ship started at rest. Gorix immediately set his thrusters to full power, and his ship's acceleration increased by 2 m/s2 every second for 15 seconds. At that point, the ship remained at constant acceleration for another 30 seconds, after which the thrusters powered off, effectively setting his acceleration to zero.

    Disregarding any other forces acting on the ship, how far did Gorix's ship travel after one minute? Please submit your answer in metres, and round to the nearest whole number, if necessary.

    EDIT: Please do not double post

    Given:

    When Gorix escaped from Dr. Sloth's ship, his ship started at rest. Gorix immediately set his thrusters to full power, and his ship's acceleration increased by 2 m/s2 every second for 15 seconds. At that point, the ship remained at constant acceleration for another 30 seconds, after which the thrusters powered off, effectively setting his acceleration to zero.

    vi = 0
    t = 60 seconds

    vf = vi + at

    d = (vi + vf)t / 2

    I think this is correct but I don't make any promises.
    and I give up on the formatting kinda line them up

    wouldn't be surprised I tried to do it as simple as possible instead of doing the integral to make it easier to understand, was about to go double check it, but you saved me the time, oh well off to go inter yours

    I was trying to do the integral, but gave up as it's been years since I've taken calc...and just went with your answer LOL

    First Post:

    check that second step

    15t^2 t=30 he's got as 27000

    and I swear I could take incremental average velocity and get it without an integral, I wonder if I just made a algebra error

    his logic seems to check out otherwise

    Second Post:

    I used to be good at math. A guy posted a postulate and it seems to make sense...I'll try to explaine.

    someone currently good at math please verify this, before anyone uses this answer

    Using calc it's give that in the first 15 seconds that acceleration increases by 2 every second so a = 2t from 0 to 15

    integrate a gives you v = t^2, integrate again gives you d = 1/3 t^3 so d = 1/3 * 15 * 15 * 15

    from 16 to 45 a = 30 so v = 30t and d = 15t^2 from t = 0 to 30 gives you 15 * 30 * 30 I belive where as the example shown gives 27000 or 30 * 30 * 30

    finally a = 0 for 46 to 60 so you have to find V at t = 46 seconds which will be constant from there so he simple took the first integral from the first two parts

    Vf = v1 +v2 = 15 * 15 + 30 * 30 then he integrated that to find d = vf * t = (15 * 15 + 30 * 30) * 15

    dtotal = 1125 + 13500 + 16875

    the other example given had 1125 + 27000 + 16875

    if I'm wrong I'm sorry but that's the best I can do

    EDIT: please do not double post
    -chelsea1

    sorry those are two days apart and I didn't think about it, someone asked me about the first post because it makes no sense now since the guy who posted the info in the first place had his post removed...so I wanted to explain it

    Shana, could you explain how you got your answer?

    Not done by me, but apparently if you print it out and rearrange them it spells out,

    W H A T - N E O P E T - S
    P E C I E S - I S - L A S
    T - I N - A L P H A B E T
    I C A L - O R D E R ? - -

    And the answer is zafara.

    50 kPascal = 5.09872 m water column (means 5.09872m water above the drain)

    the tank has a radius of 4.3 m = 333.0381428 m³ volumen

    but we cannot fill it with water to the top, only 5.09872 meters...

    so we get

    ((pi * 5.09872²)/3)*(3*4.3-h) =
    27.22393 * 7.80128 = 212.3815

    so answer should be, because you have to round to the next full 10, 210

    am i right?

    Please round to the nearest 10 litre increment, and please submit only a number for your answer

    212 = 210
    NOT 220

    so the answer for this weeks, (If ur calculators are corret 210)

    ok, thanks for correcting the answer :)

    My calculations weren't that correct, i had someone to check them...

    50 kPa = 5 m...

    so the solution would be 206,7

    but that will also mean, you have to enter 210... so it's still right... :)
