It's worth it...technically its illegeal, but you won't get in trouble for it...i've had many friends say there are viruses, but I haven't had any...

    you can also try frostwire.

HEHE EPIC FAIL ^^.. I might submit this to Failblog lol ^^
Limewire is an application that hosts connections between different users, transfering files from one user to another. Torrents are the same thing except you use a different application like Transmission or uTorrent. ^^

Is there a difference between Frostwire and Limewire?

Limewire and torrents are essentially the same thing, except Limewire is more restrictive in the files that it shares (it has its own p2p network).
Torrents are just a more generic form of Limewire, with support by various different clients and a broader seed base.

how? the only difference between torrents and a program like limewire or frostwire is that you dont use the program itself to search for the things you download.

    install bitspirit.
    http://scrapetorrent.com
search, open file, add job when bitspirit pops up

i use this to find everything from cd to movies to games like Spore. rarely ever fails.

As my friend put it the other day

"I'd rather pay £1 a song and download a song than download say 100 and get caught and given a £1000 fine"

And yes virus' are very easy to get off of it! And you can never be sure you are downloading the right thing.
I recomend frostwire if anything - no spyware

Illegal - yes in pretty much every country in the world
Is it a scam - No, not at all. You get the songs and they work.
Are there viruses on it - Yes there are, but if you look before you download you can spot the .exe or .rar files vs mp3/mp4 so you will only get one if you are literally retarded.
Pay to download? no - http://www.limewire.com
    Size - bout 5mb lol

    Have fun

Also i have 92,000 songs split between my ipods
I paid for none of them :funky:

So limewire is essentialy a torrent seeker on its own pear to pear network... Are there other programs that are like this that are more.. Trustworthy?
Another question- And PLEASE answer this honestly...
Has anyone here gotten viruses from limewire? It seems like its just a generalization about torrents that you guys are applying to Limewire...
    ---
Any answer for my previous question, "Whats the difference between Limewire and Frostwire"? Do they have different libraries of files/different networks or something?

    1. So you HAVE gotten a virus? Please don't claim a lot of them if you haven't gotten any...
    2. Do people not use it anymore? Is it old?
    ----
If limewire is a bad idea, are there any websites that host only music torrents (that are trust worthy)?

    Nice 1 liner...
So what exactly is "Ares" because when I google Ares I get 20 pages about the Greek god of warfare. Maybe give me a link?
Is it like Limewire with its own torrent library? Does it require a payment of money? Do people you know use it?
    EDIT:
Did I mention Im on a Mac?

I think everyone's mentioned downloading music is illegal in the US.

I loathe limewire. Most of the songs I'm looking for aren't on there, they're poorly formatted, and there's always a chance of viruses (though, I use mostly linux, so it doesn't really affect me.)

I use Soulseek (www.slsknet.org) on Windows, Nicotine on Linux. They're both free. I quite enjoy both of them.
