Ha, I didn't think that's a regional thing, I thought everyone said it. Yah, me and my friends say wicked, sweet, sick, mad, yada yada yada.

Bugger's one i hear a lot too. Which part of australia are you from?

What about 'taking the piss'? 'pulling your leg'? 'taking the mickey'? 'shitting you'?

All of the above mean the same.. to be joking around. I'm sure every language has an idiom for that!

Yeah, I use "SICK!!!!!!!!!!!" but not 'wicked sweet' or things like that.
I'm from Victoria, live near Melbourne. But bugger is used all over Australia isn't it? They even had that Toyota ad for it a few years ago.
As for the others, yeah, I've heard those to. Even in the newspapers! Shows how common this language has become in our everyday lives. It's used more often in the sports articles rather than other more serious articles

Dunno for the French XD Maybe they have a more realistic way of speakin'...
Anyway... yes, just Dante the 13th century author =P With the Divine Comedy and a lot of other works he shaped the italian language.

Sorry for the OT, just replying^^'

Yeah that ad was used here too, i always thought that was just an NZ commercial though. Bugger. Crikey. It's all used everywhere these days.

Anyone want to know more aussie colloquialisms? Watch any episode of the late Steve Urwin's Crocodile Hunter.

You know, me and my friends never use crikey. I've actually heard more americans imitating steve than australians say it

I have read the book "Goodnight Mr. Tom" and a character in it says "Caloo calay!! Wizard!!"
and in a Lassie movie a kid gets a pencil case and says "That's just champion dad. Champion"
Both were British, but I think they're a bit outdated.

Any Scottish people on the forum? Anyway, wasn't Braveheart directed by Mel Gibson? And he was raised in Australia for quite a long time. So when he was just about to get beheaded and he cries out 'FREEDOMMMMM....mate'

Another thing we use is 'Ta' meaning thanks. I use that one quite alot

    Roughing it (going without something)

    Or for drunk:
    Smashed
    Half-cut
    Finished
    Pissed
    Trashed
    Wasted
    Horsed
    Nutted
    Mashed
    Sloshed

    Hung-over:
    Seedy
    Manga

And from when i went to ireland i remember banjax which meant broken or something like that.

Ta gets used everywhere? Well, I've only been overseas to Malaysia and they certainly don't use it there!! Bag of wank sounds pretty haha, disgusting. Haven't heard of cut, or manga, but the rest i've heard.
    How about
I have to go see a man about a dog (doing number two)
I'm off like a bucket of prawns in the sun (i'm going now. see ya)
Flat out like a lizard drinking (flat out means when someone is running really fast or something they are going "flat out" and lizards drink by flattening themselves over a puddle...well that's what I reckon)
She'll be right (no worries, it's gonna all work out)

Well ta gets used everywhere in Aus, Ireland, the UK and NZ anyway :p

I've heard flat out.. minus the lizard part. Bucket of prawns is a new one! She'll be right we've adopted from you guys too.

It's crazy how visual and imaginative some of these are, i think NZ's are much more literal!
