Me too lives in a flat... in fact my father didn't want the cat... but after 17 years of pry, he permitted me to take one cat ^o^ Cats aren't too needy... yes, when they are young destroy all, but then they become quiet :p

However some years ago I had three hamsters... but I didn't heard of people that have rats °°

Hamsters is still ok.. as for flats... cats and dogs... especially dogs... is very very difficult to own one if u're living in flats... 1 bark... the next thing you get a call from the management saying that next door are reporting lolx

Rats are not disgusting, actually you'd be amazed how clean they keep themselves, and they usually poop in a corner. I love my darling Mr. Rat!

Yeah I've seen rats in the street and in garbage pails, I hate seeing them struggle and than seeing people kill them, its cruel, I remember when I caught a field mouse in my recycling bin :D I played with him for a while than let him go :(

Yea, cats arn't a probme usually. But indoors cats have so much energy and you need to be prepared to play with them a lot or they'll go wild.

I have a Maine Coon Cat, too, but she lives with my parents. I figured she was too old to go to college with me.

She's an indoor/outdoor cat too, so the adjustment period may have been hard on her.

I agree with the dog thing though.. Some dogs are better suited though. Like smaller ones. But I think a person can still successfully have a dog in a small apartment if they're willing to make the effort.

It's easier if you have a spouse or some kind of person living with you to help walk it and care for it when you're not there.

I walk my neighbor's dog a lot because she lives alone and sometimes her regular walker just doesn't show up. But she's only about a twenty pound mix breed and she's kennel trained so she stays in a crate when no one's home.

She's really adorable, and pretty happy being a city dog it seems..

Yes it's true! Everyday I play with my 1year old cat! We play hide-and-seek, cat's-cradle, cast and carry back beads, or we fight XD It's really amusing!

Hope in the future you can keep a pet with you^^
