I use Windows, but I hope in the next future to be able to use Linux, 'cause I can't endure Windows anymore.
BTW there is nothing called windows 94 it is either 95 or 98 both are very old... and yea never used mac before maby i should give it a try... ans what it comes to linux then we talk same language since i like linux a lot
Why does everyone hate vista? well it is slow and all but there is sure one thing that is good about it-----its interface is cool..... :yup:
I think it's hated especially by people that are good in the use of a computer. From what I've heard, Vista doesn't permit to use the Administrator mode, so you aren't able to modify nothing of the OS and programs' codes. I've also heard that it's difficult to use p2p programs, like eMule... and it's very annoying, you know =P Visual interfaces are one of the least considered things if you search real quality.
I use windows XP, but thats just because it came with the computer... and my sister likes it. I wouldn't mind using Linux though...
I'm too poor to buy myself a MacBook right now, so I'm running Windows XP on a dell but I've practically turned it into a mac, using StyleXP, ObjectDock, ObjectBar, and Rainlendar/Rainmeter.
Where do you get linux from. Can it be downloaded? What is the difference if it against windows? Can microsoft office docs be used in the os?
I never used Linux, so I couldn't reply to all the questions about it... anyway you can download it from the net, and it can used on your computer, together with Windows. So when you start your computer you will be asked for the OS you want to use from time to time. A friend of mine for example has WinXP, WinVista and Linux^^" Linux is an open-source, it means that if you're able, you can modify it for all your requirement. But you don't have to do it necessarily, 'cause the versions that you can download from the net are yet programmed. This OS uses freeware programs, that are often very similar to the pay-version. For example the program OpenOffice runs very well on Linux, and it's pretty identical to MicrosoftOffice. There are only few programs that runs well both on Windows and Linux, such Firefox or OpenOffice. Other programs are only specifical for Linux, as Window's programs don't run on a non-Microsoft system. But I've discovered that there are some pay-programs that can convert a lot of Window's programs into Linux-compatible programs I think that one of the most interesting point of Linux is... that is pretty untouchable by viruses, spywares or trojans 'cause as it can't open .exe programs it can't open viruses.
Why is it untouchable by viruses? Is it because little viruses are made for that os? And most are made for windows.
Ditto! >.< Ugh. I use Mac too, though. I have Vista on my MacBook Pro but I use Windows more and Mac for school stuff.
From what I know, it's because so far viruses were made as .exe programs for Windows... and in Linux they don't run 'cause Linux doesn't read .exe applications :/ So they are not compatible with this OS. Then there is another fact... if also existed viruses made for Linux (nowadays there are a few of them), they would encounter very often different applications (and viruses can diffuse only on a specific version of the same application). In Linux there are a lot of different applications that you can use, and these different applications are still more changable 'cause they are open-source. Anyway, now that there are some viruses Linux-compatible, and that were created common applications for the many versions of Linux, it's nomore completely untouchable... but it still remains the most untouchable OS around.
Well, linux is open source, so you could chane everythign of it, interface, etc etc etc. Everything =P, and yes, it can be downloaded, there are many many linux versions, as it can be changed, but here is a popular one: http://www.ubuntu.com/ and about microsoft office docs....i'm not entirely sure, but i think it's possible! And i use windows XP nowadays, since...ME is crap, and same goes for VISTA at this point =P
