I have never had braces before, apparently my teeth are relatively straight. Don't think that i could get used to wearing a retainer or braces.

Aw man, that sucks!!! But it might be worth it if you want perfect teeth haha. B)

Woot! B) Yeah thats what I told myself for 18 months while I had them on. Also after you get them off your teeth feel really cool and your mouth feels awesome because your cheeks aren't being scraped by metal!

D: Ouch! That's really frustrating having to have braces again, also. My teeth kind of moved after I got my wisdom teeth out too (cuz you can't wear retainers the first couple of nights), but I just decided to get my retainers remolded instead sicne it wasn't too bad. It'll probably be more convenient for you to have the metal string thing though because retainers just get worn down or lost and are a real hassle to remember to put on.

Been using braces and retains for 3 years and just got off them, here are my thoughts...

First of all, if you truly have bad teeth, forcing yourself to get braces will 100% benefit you in the future!

Typical braces are for about 2 years, for the first month, it feels like crap and you feel like you want to pull your teeth out! But from then onwards it will feel almost "normal" wearing braces, the only thing that may bother you is when you get some food pieces stuck between your braces, but nothing a toothbrush can't fix! When I got my braces removed, it almost felt wrong, but then again, I had worn mine for almost 3 years, but now I have 99% perfect teeth!

After that, it's retainer time; if you don't wear them, your teeth may reposition themselves again...that would be a total waste of time and money!!! Mine are plastic so no big deal there, waring them at night isn't too bad...again, after the 1st week, it'll be routine!

Lol i remeber when i had braces, they were the worst thing i've ever had to endure, for many reasons, A. its alot easeir to get bad breath with braces on, B. food gets stuck in the little nooks and crannys C. that definatley didnt lure girls my way at all lol. D. my teeth used to hurt alot, espeically when they tightened them =(

when i got them off i was supposed to war a retainer... but i kinda broke it biting into an apple one day, havnt worn it since and my teeth are fine =)

I've always had perfect teeth (lol yay me) but seriously. I never notice when people wear braces. It's ONLY if they're embarressed about it, because then you can tell. They won't smile right etc. But I think it's kinda cute. Maybe not a 23-year old boy with them but still..
    And I don't think it's geeky :p it's GRILLZ :D

Haha, I'm actually the exact opposite of that. For some strange reason, if someone's wearing braces, I notice them right away. I don't have a problem with them or anything but just for some reason its something that I always notice when meeting new people. (Maybe because most of the people I regularly see and talk to never have them so when I do meet someone with them, It's something I notice right away)

Not sexy now, but who cares? You'll get sexy teeth for the next 60+ years of your life. I'd say it's worth it.

there's plenty of horror stories like having MANY strips of chicken when the braces are taken out, having weight loss since you wouldn't wanna brush so often (thus not wanting to eat).....havin to sip porridge every time e braces are tighten.... everything is just plain embarrassing or ouchie T>T

I wore a retainer for about a year or two when I was elementary, but it was the one that was completely in my mouth so it wasn't embarrassing. It was uncomfortable though. Eventually it came out while I was eating some saltwater taffy.
I do have a friend who wears invisiline though. Can't really tell but he takes them out when we smoke.

I had to have braces twice- once in elementary school and again in high school. Every time the dentist tightened the braces, my teeth would hurt for days.

I had braces for a year then I lost my retainer and got a new one 2 weeks later, my teeth reshaped already in that time.

Considering I got my teeth pulled out late I'm suprised at how straight they are!
Never found the need for retainers or braces. 8D

I am so jealous of people who never needed braces :(
I play trumpet so it affected my playing A LOT. And every time they got tightened it hurt to play.
    Glad I don't have them anymore :)

Isn't that uncomfortable? Does it affect you when you sleep such as snoring or grinding your teeth?
