How do you know when submissions are being accepted/over?

You should put set dates~
Like, for a new contest, when accepting submissions you should include in the first post:
Submissions: Dec 01 2006 - Dec 6 2006
- or whatever

Then when voting starts, close the submissions:
Submissions Closed!
Voting: Dec 7 2006 - Dec 15 2006

Or something so its easier to keep track of when you can enter, and when voting has already begun. Don't really want to add people after voting starts since then some people have already voted so earlier submissions benefit more than late submissions...

Just an idea...

Well, it says when the voting ends, but it doesn't say when the submissions end other than:

Which is kind of vague, since I don't know when everyone has entered, there should be a deadline.

I thought about entering but I couldn't figure out if submissions where still being accepted or not. But then, voting had already started, but a new submission still got added~

 

I started it and it was really disorganized, I didn't know if it was going to be a success or not, so I did it really quickly. I might ask Expon to set up a sub-forum just for these, and have rules in a sticky, past winners in a sticky, and make a new board every week and every contest.

 

I understand, a sub-forum for this would probably be good.

I'm just used to being in icon contest communities on livejournal where they all sort of follow the same rules/posting formats.
Submission deadlines
voting deadlines
submissions are done privately and the voting page doesn't show anyone's name so that voters don't vote for someone just because they're friends, etc~

maybe if I'm feeling creative I'll submit sometime. But only when I'm in a creative mood, my graphics suck when I'm not. x.X

Then why didn't you vote for her. I am surprised that she isn't crushing the competition and that I'm still the only one who voted for her.

she just added a bit of distortion to it.

for us people (like me) who havnt got photoshop its kinda hard to do something like that.

Its original, but basic, very basic. everyone can do that with a simple click. so i voted for the best looking.
