I will expose my children to technology at a young age, they will have a computer [because it will be MY computer], they will have a playstation [because it will be MY playstation]. But, no, I will not let it take over their lives. My children will be encouraged to go and play outside, and play with friends, and draw. I've messed up my eyes from being in front of the computer so much, and I don't want that to happen to my kids. they can have barbies and toy cars. And thats not just until they're old enough, I'll always encourage them to do something else besides sitting in front of the computer.
if they're even remotely interested in technology, they'll pick up the skills they need.

But I would never ban them from being on the computer, or give them, say, only 1 hour, because that was done to me, and it didn't help. just made me very irritated...

but people need technology to survive well in this world. you need to know how to use a computer, and how to use the internet, because almost every job you do will require those skills.

but what do you deem to be an appropriate time? and how would you keep it away from them? would you not have technology in your house? or ban them from going into the rooms where it is kept? would you keep them from going to houses where there is technology?

Yeah I think they should be able to access electronics and computers. But the parents should limit access or Computer time or something. Not just let them go crazy for 5 hours straight lol

That's true, but there is an aspect of control and moderation.

I plan on introducing my kids at a young age. We live in the age of technology and computers and internet, it's impossible for them to never be exposed. However I would also introduce them to sports and being outside and art and a whole lot of other stuff. If my kids wanted computer games and video games I wouldn't stop them (unless they were inappropriate) but I also wouldn't suggest it. As far as the filth on TV, nobody said you had to let them watch that.

as long as you use it responsibly the computer will not ruin the child's sight.

Just rest your eyes at intervals when using the computer.

I think they should be exposed to it. I mean, they'll have to learn to live with it anyway ;) More and more stuff is done with PC's, TV's, and other electronic stuff.

I had a gameboy back when I was like 8 or so, and I think it got me addicted to video games way too much, though for the past couple years, all I played was neopets and Halo.

I still think that kids these days should be introduced to sports and other physical activities since the US has become such an obese country, and I think it's making an effect on all the other countries around the world when we spread our laziness and massive gaming systems and other things that promote a sedentary lifestyle.

computers are being used a lot more so they should be introduced to kids at a young age.
you just have to monitor them and make sure they won't be on it all day.
    people need exercise too.

Kids will be kids, and I'm saying this even so because I am a kid.
Video games and all these "things" don't make a kid lazy, the kid is lazy because he wants to be. I know when to get off of a game and clean/work out...hell, it's on my daily routine. I'm in shape, I can bench my own body weight (even a little more then it,) but even without video games kids won't say, "OH I'M BORED, LET'S GO PLAY SOME SPORTS!" People controlling their kids are dumb, and it's a learning experience for kids TO play games.
Now I'm not saying it's okay to let a kid play games ALL the time, just teach a kid to routine what he does...or they'll learn themselves. All controlling a kid is going to do is make the kid hate the parent more. I do believe too much exposure is harmful, but thats like every day for 4 - 6 hours straight of games could do in my honest opinion.
Wrap up: Video games are a learning experience, more then a "horrible thing."

I think children should be exposed, but their guardian should regulate and monitor the usage.

The generation of today is totally electronic-based. This means computers and other devices are that of the future. Having children start at an early age is setting them up for the near future. Its not a bad thing.
