Are you mad because you wished it was real? The whole point of it was to bring attention to the need for more organ donors.

It might have bought attention to the situation, but it was not the best way of doing it. It just disgusted most people.

Question: How many of you who knew about this are going to carry a donor card now?

Oh I don't condone it. But I don't think people should be mad because it wasn't real and they feel ripped off or something. I'm glad and relieved that it wasn't real. And to answer your question about how many of us are going to become donors. I already have a donor card. So the show didn't actually do anything for me. But if only 1 person changes their mind and becomes a donor then I think it was worth it.

Sadly if just one persons changes their mind and starts to carry a donor card it is not going to make any difference at all. If it meant that a very large percentage were now going to carry cards, then that would make a difference.

I wonder how the company is going to go about seeing how much of a difference they have made?

I don't understand why iceman is mad either! It is a good thing that it was not real. If it had been that would have meant more problems, instead of actually solving any, if anything has been solved that is.

Now I understand! Totally agree with you. I think there are probably better ways of trying to get the point across.

I actually think it was a fantastic media stunt :p

The best way to get people's attention is to shock them. In this case it worked. They got attention from all over the world.

I have to disagree with you on that. Whether you save 1 life or 1000 lives it's still a big deal. And I'm sure for the people, as few as they may be, who now get life saving organs donated to them because of this show will think this made all the difference in the world.

I think we shall have to agree to disagree. I really don't believe that if 1 extra person carries a donor card it will make a difference. There are loads of people on waiting lists waiting for one organ or another. How is 1 person going to make a dent in that? There are more than just a few waiting.

Wow I think this is getting to deep. I mean its a great way for advertisment, but it is a horrible way to get it at the same time.

Well, how many people does it take until it makes a difference to you? 10? 100? A million? If a person got lost while climbing a mountain should the government not send a search party because it's just one person?

What exactly does a person climbing a mountain have to do with donating organs? I was trying to be polite, as we are all entitled to our own opinions.

Oh I'm not trying to be rude or to pick on you. Sorry if you felt that. I guess it's hard to convey how your feeling or whatever on the internet. :p

I'm just saying that the mountain climber is like a person waiting for an organ donor. Because you said it's not worth it to air a show like this Big Donor show if only 1 person gets saved or whatever so how about a mountain climber, it's only 1 person so should the government not send a search party to look for him and rescue him because it's not worth it?

Ok, thought you were having a go at me! Yes, you are right, it is sometimes very hard to convey feelings on the internet.

I understand where you are coming from. I just find it very difficult to compare a large population needing organs to a single person lost on a mountain.

I only have one kidney and there is a high chance that I could lose the other one. In which case I would need a kidney transplant. If one extra person has donated their organs, what good would it do me if that person has a different blood type. I am no better off than before, I would still need a kidney. If lots of people decided to donate then I would have a better chance of being a match to one of the donors and so I would have an increased chance of getting a transplant.
