this happened this morning. There was never really any chance of the world ending. But it's happened, and was successful so there is no need to worry :)

Well, it sort of happened this morning, hungryhippo. They ran the first test today, and it was successful. But they won't be colliding particles until October 21th, and that's when the cool stuff will happen. :)

well they sent one full beam around. The high energy shots are more interesting, but this was still a big cause for "concern" (not really) in that they sent out one full beam. I'm a chem major, so I know wayyy too much about this project lol

They were also telling the media that by figuring out if the "god particle" exists they can then determine the origins of the universe and possible dimensions. Wouldn't that be weird if the planet was sucked up and was spit out of a white hole into another dimension. :maha:

we would then be the aliens. lol...

But does anyone knows how are they able to accelerate those particles at 99% speed of light ?

Because no one explained how it worked o_O

A really long circular tube that uses powerful magnets to accelerate and direct particles

This is a strange project, at some places i heard that these were only pre-stages of the experiment and the full test begins in the coming years.
