I'm a little different from you. Instead of running I would exercise on my Elliptical machine at home for an hour ;P. What helps me get through this hour is when I listen to music from my ipod. You can make a playlist and put the songs you enjoy in there ;D.
I run every weekday, you loose weight and feel proud, after a while you feel like everything you eat must be burned off, then you jog, you loose even more weight and then you are dissatisfied for being to slim.
I knnow where your coming from, i started running when i was around 15 to get in shape for soccer. But then after a couple months of running it just got plain out boring, even with music. So i just quit the same old boring running, and i started learning how to parkour. ( youtube it ) Man, this is one of the greatest workouts there are. It takes quite awhile to get used to, but if you and a friend get into it, then it's a blast. Way better than any normal flat running could be. Hope i helped. good luck.
Hahah every post pretty much says the same thing. I also ran cross country in high school and college, and what helped a lot for me is developing new routes and seeing new things each time I ran, it's easy to get caught in the same thing and feel bored when you run the same route every day.
well it depends on when you run but i absolutely enjoy running so much and i don't think you can honestly ask other people how to make running more enjoyable. I know personally i love running alone, there's very few people that i actually enjoy running with, so it's hard to say how to make it more enjoyable. What i love to do is just to let my mind wander and go wherever it wants because my 6 mile trail that i run atleast 3 times a week is just programmed into where i run so when i run i usually think about everything that has happened throughout the past day and it makes it alot more enjoyable for me atleast to not only get the satisfaction of running but also if there's something that's happening in my life that i'm not sure about running helps me figure it out, it's like my zen. Now i don't know if that answers your question lol but what i can say is try running the same trail or same couple of trails really often. As you run them you're body will know where to go so you won't have to focus on where to turn or when a hill is coming up because you'll have the muscle memory. This then allows your mind to wander and just let it go. I know when i go on a run i can start out with a very serious topic and end up thinking about exterminators and it's just like i'm having a conversation with myself in my head( and sometimes outloud :arf: ) and it really help with that whole running alone thing because the big perk to running with somebody is that you have another person to talk to to take your mind off the running. Also find trails that have some nice scenery. I live in las vegas so i'm constantly surrounded by big buildings and flashing lights but i found a nice little trail that has some plants and it's a little off the beaten path and i can just zone out and enjoy the scenery and feel like i'm not actually in vegas but somewhere else. I still don't know if that answered your question or if it's even an answer xD but i just love running so much. It's so theraputic for me and i can't even remember what my life was like before i started running. Oh and it also helps to run competitively sometimes. Maybe find a 5k race that's happening near where you live and enter it they're so much fun because you get to have a kind of run than just a normal distance run and it just gives you that variety when you've hit a slump in running and are starting to fall into a routine that you don't like. And for all you not runner who don't know what a 5k is it's 3.1 miles not 5 miles, it stands for 5 kilometers. Ugh and one thing i absolutely abhor is runnig with music. I don't know why but it just makes running so much worse for me... but that just shows how individual running is i mean a good majority of people who run can't run without music so it's all just trying out everything you can think of that might possible make running that much more enjoyable and finding what works for you Ok i think i kinda answered your question now but not really lol
A great way to enjoy running more is to run with your dog who will naturally pull you forward, another friend who can push you if you have poor determination and vice versa, playing dance music on your ipod! This one is a winner
never close your eyes while on a sidewalk, even for a couple seconds I learned that the hard way when a car came crashing out of a parking lot
I ended up buying some audio books and added them to my itouch, and it seems to help a bit. Also looks like my girls next semester is gonna be super chill so I'll have my favorite running partner back. Thanks for all the help guys
Mix it up, bring a friend, listen to different music, borrow a friends dog, run a different route, or do something other than running like bicycling.
Running eh? i always make a goal for myself to run at leasst 30 mins a day...(i hate running) but i never follow my goal, but what helps a little is listening to music. it just gets my motivated to move.
