    Re: ^^

Screw classic books. I had to do Lord Of The Flies for GCSE and I hated it.

ergh. But aparantly it's one of those books you "have" to read. Much like Pride and Prejudice.

Still haven't got past the first chapter of that...

I had to get halfway through pride and prejudice before I got into it. It's kind of old fashioned chicklit though, so I wouldn't put too much hope into liking it.
    Has anyone here read Lolita?

I actually like Classics. Or would force myself to read them. I want to read at least 100 "Classic" books. I think it's pretty interesting how language back then was so much more sophisticated unlike now. I blame TV. :p Well I think you can blame anything.

Ahh Lolita is a book I would like to read. There are some "classic" books I like. I liked In the Bell Jar and 1984 but for A level English I have to read Emma (Jane Austin) and it was so dull. I like the language but it's irritating when you have to basically translate a whole book before you can read it properly xD I like modern books or modern classics and I think it's a shame that some really good books are snubbed just because they are modern.

to tell you the truth i'd actually like to read what he just posted above me >< i'm such a nerd. I have recently read "Ender's Game" and it was a very good book to read. Its about earth in the future, and how we are at war with these aliens. The military takes ender and trains him to be a battle commander, and the way they challenge him and how he always comes out victorious is just awesome. The ending is a big surprise also, :p i almost wasn't expecting that.

I'd love to read books by Hawking and Einstein but science is one of those things where it gets really intresting after you spent 20 years learning all the boring stuff xD

XstrageX That sounds really cool I love books set in the future

Oh wow. Lots of Sci-fi fans. I read Wormwood and Ender's Game as well.

I actually prefer Ender's Shadow over Ender's Game. Read that one! It's a parallel novel to Ender's Game. Meaning the basic timeline of the story is the same but we get to see the world in the view of another character other than Ender.

THANK YOU! I HATE Stephen King movies as a rule because they deviate so much from the books. Right now I'm reading IT for the second time...ugh, clowns...but I love it. :D I'm very much looking forward to the next Harry Potter book as well although it's kind of sad since it will be the last one. (Hardcore HP fan here with the golden snitch tattoo, lol).

Thomas Harris is always a good read for me as well. I love the whole Hannibal series. I've yet to see Hannibal Rising although it is on my netflix list. I doubt it will be anywhere near as good as the book but that's how these things go.

Oh, and Jurassic Park is one of my favs. :D That and Fahrenheit 451 are possibly my two favorite books of all time. :)

EDIT: OH! And a bit ago I just read 'Running with Scissors'. I'd definitely recommend it for the older crowd. The movie was complete crap of course but if you have any interest in psychology whatsover it's a very interesting read.

    DOUBLE EDIT:
I'd like to read that as well for two reasons. My current romantic interest is very into things like that and my father has ALS(same disease Stephen Hawkings has).

I hate Arthur Miller with a passion. I had to do "a view from the bridge" for GCSE drama and it was dull and then A level english we have to do "Death Of A Salesman" xD. I hated both. I saw the crucible in the theater and it was awful that might of been the acting though.
