I've seen conflicting definitions... Some say one focuses on learning and stuff, while the other is just into things like Star Wars and D&D, but they keep switching up which is which...
Yeah...there is a big difference. I thought everybody knew :| Nerd = fascination/obsession in academics (English, SS, Math, etc.) It means they ENJOY a LOT of time reading and studying. Geek = Technology interests, USUALLY. Most of us are geeks here...
Oh...well...I dunno, maybe I was a bit of a nerd with some geek mixed in and I suppose some goodie-good as well...I played some sports, but I would not have called myself a jock at all.
"hmmm... did you go do lynnbrook for high school?" Funny thing is, I knew that you either went to Lynbrook or Monta Vista without even reading the second sentence. xD I've been on both campuses and it feels like I'm in China @_@ -Goes to Mitty-
You need a new category as I was a dork too! hard to define precisely I would say someone who generally does well academically but say top 20% as opposed to top 10%, and fairly popular and fit but not a 'big-name' as such. They always have a fatal social flaw however, eg. intense WOW player or something. Dorks generally get along with most highschool "groups" (except emos goths, too intense) because regardless of the group you could contribute to conversation and from the nerd to the jock no-one is too threatened by your strengths as you end up as a jack-of-all trades master of none. And yes I have too much time on my hands
Haha, my group isn't listed in the poll, since I'm in the "Asian" group. But we are sort of the goodie-goods, nerds, geeks as well. 8D Not to mention my friend and I are proud of it. xD And although we look like goodie-goods we're actually not. :X
Yeah, just wondering why there's no stoner, goth, metalhead, emo, skater, scene kid, juggalo, or other random rebelious teen group? I mean, at least make an "Off beat" or "Rebel" category... :/ There's nothing even close to that, and none of the categories seem to cover all my drop out/flunky/barely passed friends...
I don't really know, I can be really nerdy at times when I'm bothered, but other times I'm just a rebel, messing around in school, funtimes lol.
A nerd has to be like that loves to study...not just smart. Lol, I love being a rebel! It's so fun because I get both the teachers on my side so I never get in trouble MWUHAHAHA! Whole grade of friends, and teachers like me cause I "participate in class and get questions right ". :yup:
My school didn't really have groups at all. I went to an all-boys uniform wearing private school. I mean, sure, there were a group of people who always went to indie concerts, a group who smoked a lot of pot, a group who was on every sports team, and a group who got all 95s. But we talked to everyone. Everyone talked to everyone in the halls and stuff. Not like where the nerds aren't allowed to talk to the jocks. I put myself in preps. I suppose we were all "preps". Our school is a "university prep" school. The days that we were allowed to wear non-uniform, more than half the grade wore collared shirts from RL/Lacoste/Abercrombie/Hollister/AE. When we had parties, they were chaperoned by... bouncers. Many times, they were catered, or had a bartender or two serving drinks. And the parents were almost always home. When people blacked out, there were parents to take them to the hospital to get their stomachs pumped, instead of having them pass out and pwn their liver.
cheerleader i go to all the games for my school, fundraise for clubs, etc. even though we don't win a lot that's quite alright
None of the above you left out a few... Offbeats Freaks Goths (which can sometimes be with freaks) norms (normal average people who fit in with most) popular ...well not sure but we had the above at high school and I was a norm I got along with almost everyone but wasn't a "popular" though some norms were both
