Wow, I didn't know most of the members here were fluent in more than one language! That's great! I'm always happy to be around an educated crowd. For me, I only speak fluent English, and have about 1.5 semester's worth of knowledge in the area of Spanish. I'm really surprised so many people here know so many languages! Most adults I know can only speak one! Keep up the great work, everyone!
Well foreign language class help with the diversity Plus this is the internet, we get members from all over the world, including countries where bilingualism is commonplace.
From 7th grade to 12th grade I took a total of 5 years of russian (1 semester in 7th and 8th grade). By 12th grade I was teaching the first year students. My senior year I also took a year of Japanese. My school offered Spanish, French, German, Russian, and Japanese. Then my first year of college I took another year of Japanese.
English was my first language, and I practice it as often as possible by never shutting up. In addition to this, I can speak nearly flawless French (français or québecois), passable but limited Spanish, wretched but fairly extensive German and a few various phrases from about six other languages (Portuguese, Cantonese, Latin etc). I'm hoping to pick up on my Spanish sometime soon (my neighbour of almost four months is perfect, so I should be taking advantage of him! And get your minds out of the gutter right now, readers. Taking advantage of his perfect grasp of the Spanish language to further my knowledge of the tongu - the language is obviously what I meant). And I'm meeting a couple of times a week to work on Cantonese.

I took Spanish for two years in high school, and did quite well. But if you were to ask me something in Spanish today, All I'd be able to say back is "Que?"
I can speak English, Spanish, German, and I am currently trying to learn Japanese. Haha, I am not really all that great with it at the moment.
