I've been through 4 years of Latin and 2 years of Spanish, but the only language I can speak is English. :\
Did you go to Greek school? I've been to Greece and my dad speeks Greek and Macedonian, but I don't...other than a few phrases.
Naw, my grandparents migrated to Canada when Hitler was invading wayyy back when. Growing up, I overheard my grandparents an dad speaking it to one another. After the years I started to pick up words here and there, an turned them into phrases. At this point, I understand almost everything, it's just speaking it that can be a pain... I stumble over my own words in case I feel like I'm not using enough of an accent lol
Sounds very similar to my background except I didn't get to hear them talking that often since they lived in separated houses a couple miles apart. When my dad went back to Greece (northern part of Greece) to visit, he found that every single one of his boyhood friends was killed during the war.
Dutch, English, a smattering of French and German. I also know a tidbit of Chinese by watching some kids show in the morning (I WAS BORED ALRIGHT?! )
English and some french.. not using it over the years has made me pretty poor at the french though. Trying to learn it when I'm never going to use it was a bit of a waste because I kept forgetting what I had learned previously.
Ive been a Russian heritage speaker and now am taking college courses to fill the small gaps in knowledge. I've also taken 4 years of French. (and of course, English)
