    don't buy crappy hardware, so things like that won't happen unless I do something dumb. Then, hope I don't do anything dumb.

    be sad and have to rebuild that's what happened to my old comp there were 12 viruses. *shivers*

    I would rebuild the computer and just get over the fact that all of my files were lost, what else could I do (besides get mad or upset)?

    I would be devastated. My laptop stopped working about a year ago and I lost quite a few files, luckily most everything important was on a flash drive as well!

    I guess the first thing I would do is contact Tech Support if any or see a specialist. I'm pretty sure someone can retrieve the data back.

    If all else fails, I'd probably start over from scratch and buy a new comp.

    Yeah, external HDs are a useful way to avoid it. Or you could just back up all your files constantly.
